Practice the Presence

Dear Ones,

Happy New Year! I love remembering to write the new date on my checks. I love the feeling of coming to closure with one year and beginning a new one. This year is even more auspicious as it marks not only a new year but also a new decade. No matter how glorious or inglorious you perceived 2009, you have an excellent opportunity to perceive 2010 as the same old critter or as an entirely different one. It goes as well for the 2000s. Frankly, I am good and ready personally for a new beginning.

A strategy I have used for a number of years is to acknowledge my accomplishments and victories for the previous year; I put hearts beside them!

The next step is sometimes harder for me to articulate, but is also an opportunity to acknowledge the disappointments, slips and setbacks. If you are really compassionate with yourself you could also put hearts beside each of these events. Each one is consciousness unfolding - God expressing uniquely as you!

Our theme for 2010 is Practice the Presence. January's theme is Sacredness. February's theme is Love.

I am writing this article on December 20th, the day before the darkest night of the year. My heart is heavy tonight because my beloved cat, Puppy, made her transition today. I am feeling sad and somewhat sorry for myself, a little guilty that I didn't do more and so very grateful for the support I had as I walked through this challenge. I had beautiful professional support and bushels of personal support from all of you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.

That is to say that I am ready to Practice the Presence. We are using a daily journal like we did in 2008.

In the introduction of the journal, Rev. Chris Michaels writes, "Because we are first and foremost, spiritual beings, our relationship with God requires more than just a Sunday-morning commitment. In order to be truly beneficial, this relationship must be nurtured on a regular basis. Like all human relationships, our relationship with God requires time and frequent communication in order to remain healthy and vital. We have to take the opportunity each day to pray and meditate in order to hear the voice of the one, pure voice of Spirit alive within us. In other words, if we expect to live well and prosper. We have to make room for God in our lives." He goes on to say that this is where a daily practice comes in. My bookshelves are overstocked with books. My intellect is not crying for one more self-help book. But my soul aches for a deeper practice of the principles I know and love.

Here is my intention for myself: 2010 is a year of expanding consciousness, of inspired vision and shared leadership; it is a year of loving respect for my body and my time. It is a year of love and compassion for all beings including myself. It marks the beginning of a decade that is the most deeply satisfying, joyful and abundant of my path so far.

Set your intention. Get a big idea and expand it. You are that spiritual magnificence as am I.

Love and blessings,
Heather
