Dear Ones,
I can scarcely conceive that the holidays are soon upon us! This year has flown by for me. Yet as we approach Thanksgiving, I do so with a truly humble and grateful heart for all the blessings in my life. With your permission, I am going to list a few. I am grateful for the Center for Spiritual Living Capistrano Valley for many reasons. I am grateful that my vocation and avocation are one and the same. How glorious it is to be paid for what I love to do - explore, practice and demonstrate the Science of Mind and Spirit.
I am grateful for every person who has attended any Sunday service, knowing that the Spirit within them brought them here for a day, a season or a lifetime; each one has come with a precious gift for me. I am grateful for students of the Science of Mind, whose awakened lives illuminate the path for others.
I am grateful for the beautiful staff of this Center, all of whom I admire, trust and love. In addition to seeing them in their roles, we meet once a week to connect and communicate as a group. I am grateful for that time together. If you don't know our staff, come in and say hello. We have two full time staff members - Diane Hennessy, our office administrator and Pattie Mercado, our Director of Youth and Family ministry. Our part-time staff include Karyn Allen, our bookkeeper, whose ministry is Creative Arts, Pam Rocke, our newsletter editor, Jean Turrell-Wright, our choir director, Peter Herz, our music director, our band - David Page on drums, Ed Kusby on guitar and Bill Dickson on bass. I am also thankful for Norm Lessard, our sound technician. Each of our staff members is highly skilled and motivated to do the very best job possible.
I am grateful for all our volunteers, too many to name them all but I will give a shout out to some of them - Mia Cook, our Bookstore manager, Kathy Storey, who looks after our plants, Sean Greenroyd and Amy Tracey, who occasionally substitute for Norm.
I am grateful for Mary Didelot, Bill and Billie Hart, who put the bulletins together each week. I am grateful to our song leaders and our choir. I am grateful for our Youth Church teachers. I am grateful for our prayer pod leaders. I am grateful to our Assistant ministers Rev. Judee Chapman, who leads the Wednesday's Wisdom service and Rev. Alene Kramer who leads our Prayer Ministry. I am grateful for Pam Daily and Dave Friedman for putting videos of my messages and invitations on the Internet. I am grateful for our Staff Ministers: Rev. Geoff Layng, Rev. Madi Layng, Rev. Patricia Truman, Rev. Dave Lewis and Rev. Bruce Fredenburg. I am grateful for our Board of Trustees - Mary Brogdon, President; Aidan Greaney, Vice President; Doris Palardy, Treasurer; Pam Rocke, Secretary, Mia Cook, Events; and David Echelberger, Wealth Coordinator.
I am grateful for all the programs in our Center from Homeless Help, to Community Outreach, to book collecting, and especially for our annual program of commitment-Adventure in Faith!
I am grateful for you - your honesty, your courage, your smiles, your tears, your feedback - yes both the boos and the applause!
Albert Schweitzer wrote: "At times our own light goes out and is rekindled by a spark from another person. Each of us has cause to think with deep gratitude of those who have lighted the flame within us."
Many your holiday season be blessed; may you know that you are appreciated and loved.
With you in Mind,
Heather
